English Premier League Results: Dramatic, Manchester United Beat Brighton 3-2

Manchester United managed to win a dramatic 3-2 win over the hosts Brighton and Hove Albion in the 2020/2021 Premier League. The Red Devils’ winning goal was created in the final minutes of the match through a penalty.

The two teams shared the scores 1-1 in the first half. Manchester United fell behind first in the 40th minute after Neal Maupay managed to convert the penalty given by the referee into a goal.

3 minutes later, the position changed to 1-1 after Lewis Dunk created an own goal.

The second half runs for 10 minutes, Manchester United winning 2-1 through a goal by Marcus Rashford who utilizes an assist from Bruno Fernandes.

The two teams attacked each other until the 90th minute. The match got even fiercer after on 94 minutes Solly March equalized the score 2-2.

The score did not last long. In 98 minutes, Manchester United received a penalty. Bruno Fernandes, who advanced to be the executor, did not waste the opportunity.

Until the match ends, the score doesn’t change.

This is Manchester United’s first win in the 2020/2021 Premier League. In the first match Manchester United defeated by Crystal Palace 1-3 at home.

Brighton played better than the visitors. In fact, Graham Potter’s squad was dominant in possession and fired more total shots. Brighton fired a total of 18 shots and five of them were on target. Meanwhile, Manchester United opened fire only seven times and three of them aimed at goal for 90 minutes.

Referring to Opta, Brighton was even recorded as getting five chances that hit Manchester United’s post and crossbar. This is the highest number a team has made in a single game in the Premier League since Opta began collecting data in 2003/2004.

Brighton star Leandro Trossard is the player with the most shots hitting the post or crossbar. Two Trossard shots hit the post in the first half and another shot hitting the bar in the second half.

Trossard also matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s bad record. CR7 also posted a similar record when Manchester United served Newcastle United in October 2006.
