English Premier League Results: Man City Beat Arsenal 1-0

Manchester City won 1-0 over Arsenal in the fifth week of the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (17/10).

Riyad Mahrez opened up opportunities for Man City in the first minute. However, Mahrez shot sideways thin on the side of the Arsenal goal.

Sergio Aguero’s attempt in the seventh minute with a header also failed to bring Pep Guardiola’s team ahead.

Raheem Sterling gave Man City the lead in the 23rd minute after taking advantage of Phil Foden’s rebound which was pushed over by Bernd Leno. Lenon’s edge ball was still moving wildly in the penalty box, Sterling struck with his left foot.

In the 34th minute Riyad Mahrez’s experiment still hovers over Bernd Leno’s crossbar. A moment later it was Phil Foden’s turn, which Leno could still block.

Defender Kyle Walker lifted his foot too high at Gabriel Magalhaes in injury time. However, the referee did not consider it a foul in the penalty box.

In the second half Arsenal played a compact defense when Man City players held the ball. This condition made the Citizens a little difficult to penetrate the penalty box for the Gunners.

Man City right-back Joao Cancelo accelerated on the left side of Arsenal’s defense in the 76th minute. The former Juventus player released a horizontal pass in front of the opponent’s goal.

Luckily for Arsenal, David Luiz, who intended to block Cancelo’s shot, did not change the direction of the ball into his own net.

Arsenal tried to dominate the attacks in the second half injury time. The Gunners look to score the equalizer with a cross. However, Man City’s new player Ruben Dias was pretty neat in anticipating the balls for the visitors. Man City narrowly won 1-0 over Arsenal.

This minimalist victory returned Pep Guardiola’s men to the tripoin path after failing to beat their opponents in the last two weeks.

Man City was humiliated by Leicester City 2-5 and held by Leeds United 1-1 before picking the full points against Arsenal.

The role of Sergio Aguero, who tasted a post-injury comeback in this match, was crucial to boost the team’s attack. The Argentine striker played a role in Sterling’s goal.
