English Premier League Results: Man City vs Liverpool Draw

Manchester City and Liverpool had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City’s duel against Liverpool has been fierce since the first minute. The two teams both appeared aggressive and took turns applying strong pressure.

Liverpool took the lead in the 13th minute through Mohamed Salah’s penalty. The Egyptian player coldly beat Ederson with a hard shot. Liverpool got a penalty after Sadio Mane was dropped by Kyle Walker in the forbidden box.

Both teams play fast tempo. The hosts appeared dominant about possession until the 24th minute. However, they had not made a single trial attack yet.

The Citizens, nicknamed Man City, could only make attacks on goal in the 25th minute. The attack actually passed the goalkeeper, Alisson Becker. Raheem Sterling hits the ball between the legs of the goalkeeper. However, Sterling’s kick was then thrown away by Joel Matip who was standing behind the goalkeeper.

After conceding, Manchester City tried to dismantle the Liverpool defense that appeared without Virgil van Dijk. After a number of failed opportunities, ‘The Citizens’ finally equalized through Gabriel Jesus in the 33rd minute.

Receiving a ball from Kevin De Bruyne, Jesus made a feint while turning around to trick Trent Alexander Arnold. Although surrounded by a number of Liverpool defenders, Jesus was able to push the ball into the goal.

Manchester City then had a good chance of ending the first half with the lead when they got a penalty in the 42nd minute. But Kevin De Bruyne’s shot, who became the penalty taker, went wide to the right of the goal even though Alisson had misread the direction of the ball.

After a draw in the second half, the Manchester City vs Liverpool duel continued to be interesting since the second half began. The Reds and The Citizens continued to take turns attacking.

Liverpool fielded Xherdan Shaqiri and James Milner to replace Roberto Firmino and Alexander-Arnold. Meanwhile, Manchester City played Bernardo Silva to replace Ferran Torres.

Despite making a number of substitutions, both teams still struggled to get good chances in the second half. Liverpool’s back line looked solid to break Manchester City’s attack.

The same thing happened to Liverpool’s attack line. Mohamed Salah and his friends could not do much to dismantle the Manchester City defense which was commanded by Ruben Dias.

Score 1-1 draw lasted until the end of the match.
