According to the Manchester Evening News, the Dutch manager Erik ten Hag has not yet completed the transfers needed to build the Manchester United squad during the following summer transfer window.
The former Ajax Amsterdam manager is said to be looking for three more top players (two midfielders and one striker) for the Red Devils.
Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard and Lee Grant have all confirmed their departures in recent months.
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is United’s top transfer target for the summer window. However, the Catalan clubs refused their first proposal to get De Jong.
United are now wanting to finally come to a conclusion for the second deal following weeks of negotiations with the club.
Ajax midfielder Anthony, meanwhile, has been strongly linked with a move to United this summer as Ten Hag continues to rebuild the squad.
Ajax wanted £67.3 million for Antony, which United thought was expensive. Even the Brazil international was unhappy, believing that the worth was too high, preventing him from joining his desired club.
Ten Hag joined United from Ajax this summer and is already hard at work trying to improve a team that will play in the Europa League next season after finishing with the lowest points total in Premier League history.
The 52-year-old manager has made no secret of his high standards, telling his new players that good will not be good enough.
“I have high expectations from myself and that is also what I demand from my squad. They have to cooperate together and they have to give every day their best. And I would say, for me, good is not good enough. We have to do better.” Ten Hag saidm
“Everywhere I was in my career, I have high demands on my players. I expect them to fight and give 100 per cent. I already mentioned that only good is [not] good enough, no, not only that.
“We have to do better and they have to cooperate. They have to be unified, to form a team, and to battle the opponent.” he added.
