The stunning performance from Lionel Messi during Barcelona’s 6-1 win over Girona at Camp Nou on Sunday had his manager Ernesto Valverde proclaiming that he makes things which aren’t easy actually appear so.
The Argentine was in great form as he scored twice in 30th and 36th minute, while his team-mates Luis Suarez scored a hat-trick and Philippe Coutinho scored once.
“It’s difficult to get used to things like this. You think he as done everything and then he goes and surprises you like that.” Valverde told after the match.
“We were waiting to see how the wall would cope with him and then he goes and puts it under it. Then when you see it happen you think ‘of course.’ Leo makes it look easy, but it isn’t easy.” Valverde added.
Barcelona manager also pointed out the team made a response after losing the ball in the early. However he told: “After breaking the first line of defense, we have the opportunity to score, each team are using their own weapons.”
Philippe Coutinho and his team-mate Ousmane Dembele contributed in their own unique ways. The Brazilian midfielder, who also mastered the under-the-wall free kick while playing for former club Liverpool, scored cracking first league goal for the Blaugrana in the second half.
“They are a great help to the team, we have high hopes for them. Coutinho performed very well in the middle and scored a fantastic shot.” Valverde said.
“Dembele closer to the sidewalks, he has more depth, but he has previously suffered injuries, the lack of adaption period, therefore, he’s still adapting to the team.” Former Athletico Bilbao manager added.
