Fans will have to put pressure on Joshua to face Wilder when he beat Fury

Deontay Wilder (40-0-0, 39 KOs) is hoping a Tyson Fury (27-0-0, 19 KOs) victory will create even more pressure to incite the WBA, WBO, IBO, IBF and Anthony Joshua champions to face him.

As for him, Joshua (21-0-0, 20 KOs) is about to make a mandatory defense of his title against the Russian pugilist Alexander Povetkin (34-1-0, 24 KOs), on September 22, at Wembley Stadium, London.

But Wilder believes that Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, as well as head coach Rob McCracken, will never agree to the fight being done anytime soon.

The WBC heavyweight champion hopes that an army of fans from both sides of the ocean can apply strong pressure to force the holding of this coveted unification fight.

“We already know they do not want to confront me. Eddie has already revealed it, he slipped and he admitted it. It could take a long time.” Wilder said.

“We will continue to do the right thing. Once I beat Fury, there will be no more questioning as to who is at the top of the division. If they continue to choose other rivals, then fate will take care of them.

“The thing is Rob McCracken is not going to let Joshua confront me, until he’s going to judge Joshua is ready. I heard that and that’s what I believe.” Wilder added.

Fury registered a unanimous points win over his opponent Francesco Pianeta last August. The 30-year-old British fighter is now set to challenge WBC heavyweight champion Wilder.

“I think the fight can only happen if the fans all use their power together. I think they will be forced to do it. You guys, fans all in large numbers, you have the power to make the fight happen.” Wilder said.

“This is just the beginning. Once I have defeated Fury and Joshua will continue to avoid me, this cannot be a lost cause. This cannot be similar to what happened between Lennox Lewis and Riddick Bowe. I do not want to live this. I know I’m the best, I just want to prove it!” Wilder added.

According to promoter Frank Warren, Wilder and Fury will fight in November or December. The fight could take place in Las Vegas, USA.

“All of the terms are agreed. We’re working at the moment on the date and the venue. We have another unification match with Josh Warrington and Carl Frampton and we don’t want a clash on those two dates. One of those fights will be in November, and one will be in December.” Warren said.
