Former five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0-0, 27) said he has no doubts he is the best boxer of all time.
Mayweather is widely regarded as the greatest defensive fighter in the history of boxing. He is famous for the shoulder roll, where he parries jabs and deflects power punches off of his shoulder.
The timing of his right hand is impeccable, his reaction time slows down his opponents, and his ability to predict his opponent’s move and prepare for the counter before his opponent even throws his punch is unmatched
The American was not at all happy that a good number of followers rank him below legendary boxers like Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano.
“Are you talking about Ali, the same fighter who was beaten by a rival who only played seven fights?” Leon Spinks beat Muhammad Ali when he had only fought seven fights. Who is the heavyweight Ali fought three times, Ken Norton? Ken Norton has beaten Ali three times, take the time to review the fights,” Mayweather said.
“Of all these guys in boxing history, I have accomplished more than any fighters in boxing history. How many world champions Rocky Marciano has beaten? So, we already know… I beat more champions who are also going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.” Mayweather added.
Mayweather was also annoyed by critics saying that WBC strawweight champion Wanheng Menayothin has eclipsed his winning streak while also maintaining a perfect record.
“I’m 50-0 for a reason. Right now they have a fighter in Asia who is 54-0 and they say, this is the new TBE because he’s about to retire,” Mayweather said.
“To that, I answer: Are you talking to me about this fighter who has only faced one world champion? He is 54-0 and has only beaten one world champion? Is this the boxer you are trying to name TBE? Ok, you are all good comedians!” he added.
