Former Chelsea Striker Gives Opinion on Cristiano Ronaldo Exit

Former Chelsea Striker, Tony Cascarino, has believed Cristiano Ronaldo is trying to look for new destination following this summer transfer window.

Ronaldo is reportedly set to be ‘abandoned’ at United as the club prepare to make massive changes to the playing squad this summer.

The 37-year-old striker returned to the Old Trafford from Juventus in last summer. Ronaldo was believed that United is building a new era of success, despite not winning a title for more than four years.

“Ronaldo is a player, as always, that has an ego. A lot of it is about him but the teams he’s played in have been successful, so you always go with that as a team player,” Cascarino said.

“Great, he scores goals, he gets the accolades, he’s one of the greatest that’s ever played the game. You can have all that and that’s fine, as long as you’re winning. When you don’t win, now you’ve got a problem.” Cascarino added.

Ronaldo is anxious to stress he respects United but as he enters the final stages of his career, he wants to compete for the next Champions League.

“I said to you off-air, I’m a bit suspicious because he’s got 141 goals in the Champions League. Messi has got 125.” Cascarino said.

“He doesn’t want to not play Champions League football because he wants to be the greatest Champions League goalscorer of all time and that’s how Ronaldo is made.” he added.

Ronaldo played for United from 2003 to 2009, making 292 appearances, scoring 118 goals and winning 9 major and minor trophies including 3 Premier League and 1 Champions League. It can be said that Sir. Alex Ferguson helped Ronaldo’s rise to become the world’s top football superstar.

Ronaldo is scheduled to return back as soon as possible this week for pre-season training. He’s likely to travel with teammates on their pre-season tour to Thailand and Australia.
