Heading to the super fight on August 26, promoter Richard Scahaefer talked about a fight between unbeaten American boxers Floyd Maywether against UFC fighters Conor McGregor on Friday.
Maywether has been the subject of much criticism since he made an announcement of his return on the ring against the Irish McGregor. However, the two fighters have been offered by big money if they want to fight after this summer.
“I think it’s a big event and I can only be positive about that. There are many people who speak rubbish about this. I think for a good number of them, they are caught up in jealously,” Schaefer said.
Schaefer, who had worked with Mayweather in the past, believes that the American merely continues his very lucrative approach.
“Usually, his haters have always been more-noisy than those who have always given him support, so you will always hear the haters denigrate him. But it’s normal, it’s Floyd, it’s always happens when he fights.
“I remember when I took over the fighting of Floyd, there were always those who loved Floyd and who followed him, but also those who always wanted to see him lose.
“He became the highest paid athlete in the world because he evokes emotions among people. Just being a good fighter, always smiling can of course take you far, but if you can also evoke emotion the fans, this can make you a superstar and that’s what Floyd has always done. And it is still what it is doing, it evokes emotion.” he added.
McGregor has boxed at a novice level among the amateurs but he has never engaged in professional boxing since he’s specialised in MMA.
Schaefer believes the chances of the Irish fighter to create a monumental surprise if he manages to pull his tip knowing that Floyd has a pretty good power.

“I cannot go or be without someone asking me how I see this fight,” Schaefer said. “The world keeps talking about it and that’s the impact of the promotion. It evokes emotion. In this particular case, a lot of people feel hatred, others in the opposite way like everything around the fight, but surely will pay to see the fight.
“If he decides to go ahead and fights Golovkin, he will win by a big margin, that’s what he did with Canelo. Floyd has talented and he is gifted not only to win his fight, but he makes sure that all reputable fighters to face him appear very ordinary.” the Ring Stars boss added.
