France U-17 vs Senegal U-17 Results at the 2023 U-17 World Cup: Winning on Penalties, Les Bleus Qualifies for the Quarterfinals

The France U-17 National Team (National Team) won dramatically over Senegal U-17 in the last 16 of the 2023 U-17 World Cup, on Wednesday (22/11/2023). How could it not be, young Les Bleus won this victory after fighting all the way to the penalty shootout.

Playing at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Jakarta, the France U-17 vs Senegal U-17 match was actually as strong as in normal times. The match continued into a penalty shootout and France U-17 managed to win and qualify for the quarter-finals thanks to a 5-3 win over Senegal U-17.

Next, France U-17 will be challenged by Uzbekistan U-17 in the quarter-finals of the 2023 U-17 World Cup on 25 November 2023.

France U-17 gets the first touch of the ball. However, their first pass was off the mark which was immediately put to good use by the opposing team.

Senegal U-17 appeared more pressing. They got a lot of the ball and actively spread threats from the wings.

A number of opportunities were created for both teams intensely from the first 20 minutes. Meanwhile, France U-17 is still trying to find gaps in the defense of the young Lions of Teranga, Senegal’s nickname.

France U-17 got the first corner kick in the 20th minute. A shot at goal was fired which was fortunately saved by the Senegal U-17 goalkeeper, Serigne Fallou Diouf.

In possession of the ball, France U-17 was 49 percent ahead during the 30 minutes of play. Meanwhile, Senegal U-17 recorded 30 percent possession of the ball.

Not even half way through the game, the France U-17 coach, Jean-Luc Vannuchi, replaced his player, Mathis Amougou, in the 35th minute with Tidiane Diallo. Not long after that, the match took a short break via a cooling break.

The score remained unchanged with two minutes of normal match time remaining in the first half. Both teams are still holding strong in maintaining their defense.

The match became fiercer in the extra minutes. Senegal U-17 is increasingly fierce in spreading threats, as is Les Bleus. However, until the first half was over, the score remained unchanged.

After halftime, the intensity level of the game did not change. Senegal U-17 and France U-17 traded attacks.

Entering the 47th minute, the Lions of Teranga got a golden opportunity in front of the penalty box after struggling to penetrate the opponent’s defense. However, the shot of the striker, Clayton Silverio Diandy, was saved by Les Bleus goalkeeper, Paul Argney.

A tense moment was created in the 57th minute. Senegal U-17 managed to score a goal through Mamadou Gning’s feet who used a thrown ball. But unfortunately the referee annulled the goal because Gning was in an offside position.

A minute later, Senegal U-17 again spread a threat through the goalkeeper’s long pass. But this time Argney was alert beforehand to guard Les Bleus’ goal.

The tension continued, Senegal U-17 did not stop pressing. Another opportunity was created through Yaya Diémé’s shot which unfortunately hit the side of the goalpost.

The game was still close without a goal until second half added time. Both teams are still thinking hard about finding a winning solution in this match.

France recorded 70 percent of successful passing attempts. Meanwhile, Senegal U-17 was superior with 77 percent successful passing. Victory is determined by a penalty shootout.
