French giant PSG tempts Man Utd manager as Jose Mourinho’s representatives hold talks

Jose Mourinho has been sounded out by Paris Saint-Germain on being their next manager. Contact was made between the French champions and Mourinho’s representatives. Jose Mourinho has been approached by Paris Saint-Germain regarding a stunning exit from Manchester United, reports claim. The Portuguese’s representatives held talks with the Ligue 1 giants after he hinted at interest in coaching them in the future last month. ‘At the moment in Paris there is something special,’ he said. ‘Magic, quality, youth, it’s fantastic.’ Mourinho’s comments were not well received in Manchester and they have since slipped eight points behind Pep Guardiola’s Premier League leaders Manchester City. But despite registering his interest publicly, Mourinho informed the Parisian club that he is totally committed to United, according to the Sun.

However, PSG have left the door open to him, should he have a change of heart. There is a lack of confidence in manager Unai Emery after he could only guide PSG to a second-placed finish in Ligue 1 behind Monaco last season, although his side are going strong and are unbeaten in the 2017/18 campaign. The likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar were added to the squad in the summer and they are among the favourites to win the Champions League, with many of Europe’s other powerful clubs struggling to find their best form.

It’s not the first time PSG have approached Mourinho, who has won the Champions League with two different clubs, and they tried to recruit the former Chelsea boss ahead of his move to Old Trafford. And they are waiting in the wings to snap him up, should his situation sour in Manchester.

It has been made clear that he is committed to Manchester United. But big-spending PSG have left the offer open should things change. Less than a month ago Mourinho talked them up while saying he would not end his career at Manchester United. Mourinho said: “At the moment in Paris there is something special. “Magic, quality, youth, it’s fantastic.” Mourinho later clarified the comments on not ending his career at United by saying no manager can last in a top job for as long as Arsene Wenger or Sir Alex Ferguson.

The flirtation with PSG still raised eyebrows at Old Trafford — as will this approach. It is not the first time they have attempted to get him, having tried to hijack his appointment at Old Trafford in summer 2016.
