The Paris Olympic Jury Council on Saturday has confirmed eSports is the next generation sport in great interested and may become one of the medal content contests at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
France pesident Emmanuel Macron has expressed his desire to host the 2024 Summer Olympics in parallel with the world’s biggest eSports events such as World Finals (LOL), The International (Dota 2) and Major (CS: GO).
“I will never give up eSports. This is a very strong growing industry, and our country has many strong teams like Team Vitality or Karmine Corp. We are facing a historic opportunity. history to bring Esports to a new level, that is the 2024 Olympics.” Marcon said.
“We will create a link between sports and eSports by winning the right to host the world’s largest eSports events of the year: CS:GO Majors, Worlds League of Legends, and The International Dota 2.
“If the French trust me, I will immediately start implementing the project after being in office for the next term as president. This is for the future of France.” Marcon added.
France is one of the countries with a strong eSports background in Europe. They own many quality players, even once standing on the top of the world. They also have some of the top eSports organizations around the globe.
France’s cities are also the destination of many international eSports events such as the MDL Disneyland Paris Major (Dota 2), the 2019 World Championship (LOL) final and a series of major CS:GO tournaments, the most recent of which is BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2022.
The 2024 Summer Olympics are scheduled to run from July 26 through August 11. The parade of nations will be a 162-boat flotilla on the Seine River, with spectators able to watch from the banks for free.
