Henderson Out for the Season

Betting News Singapore

Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for the rest of the season after the midfielder damaged his ligament on Thursday night’s Europa League clash against Borrusia Dortmund. Whether the Englishman will miss England’s Euro 2016 remains to be seen and would depend upon his recovery.

An awkward landing in the first half led to the injury which later was confirmed by the Merseyside club via their official website press release, was serious enough to rule Henderson out for the remaining season.

Liverpool have eight matches to play as they look to finish on a high since the takeover by Jurgen Klopp. The club currently resides on ninth position with forty five points, closely chased down by Chelsea with forty four. Liverpool also host Dortmund in the return leg of their Europa Cup Quarter final next week.

Henderson has been a key asset for his national side, England, as he has started six European qualifier games and a recent friendly against Germany.

The England coach, Roy Hodgson, has adopted a strict ‘no unfit player’ policy this season. Hodgson shall announce his twenty three man squad for the Euro 2016 on 12th May.  Speaking to the press he stated

“I wouldn’t be happy to really take players with us in the hope that they will become fit during the tournament “

However that being said, Liverpool FC medical team is confident that the injury isn’t serious and Henderson will be back in action within the next six to eight weeks thereby making him available for selection for the Euros

“Henderson’s issue appears to be less serious and providing all goes well with the midfielder’s recovery programme, the time out of action could be limited to between six and eight weeks.” – Liverpool FC Official Press Release

Henderson had previously missed the first half of the season after being injured in the second match against Bournemouth. The Reds midfielder had sustained a heel injury and was looking to come into his stride again before the latest ligament injury struck.

The Liverpool skipper doesn’t require a surgery which is always a welcoming news. How big of a blow will Henderson’s injury be to Liverpool’s prospects of finishing higher this season or their performance in Europe? Only time will tell.
