Tech3 KTM team has announced on Wednesday Australian rider Remy Gardener will move up to MotoGP in 2022.
Tech3 KTM current riders Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona: one of them will no longer be at team next season, maybe even both. A delicate situation to manage, but which pushes the two men to improve.
Lecuona had a complicated first season, with many crashes and learning errors, some interesting results and an end marred by a Covid-19 infection since arriving in the 2020 MotoGP.
In this season, Lecuona has also started on the wrong path, with just 1 point scored after four races. The last tests at Le Mans and Mugello have given him back a smile, and credit to his comments where he ensured that his feeling progresses as he goes.
“I believe that in the last few races I am improving a lot, I am working and doing my best. The maximum that is in my hands, nothing more,” Lecuona said.
“People like to talk a lot, I’ve heard a lot about me, where I’m going, what I’m doing. Ultimately it’s my life and nobody knows anything, so I focus on myself. I am focused on continuing to improve, learn, have fun and above all enjoy each day in MotoGP.” he added.
Petrucci currently has 10 points more than his young teammate, but is not living up to expectations either 14th place overall. As for Lecuona, the start was difficult but the last marks are rather positive. It’s starting to come, one would be tempted to say.
“The fact is that the years go by and a lot of young people aspire to get into MotoGP. I am convinced that I am always fast, although we need more time to work as a team.” Petrucci said.
