AC Milan managed to avoid defeat after Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored in injury time to make the score a 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona in the Italian League match at the San Siro, Monday (9/11).
AC Milan got a big surprise when they hosted Verona at the San Siro as they had already conceded two goals in the first 20 minutes of the match. Verona scored the first goal through Antonin Barak.
Barak took advantage of the chaos in front of the Milan goal that followed after Federico Ceccherino’s header hit the post. Barak picked up a wild ball and fired a shot into the empty net.
In the 19th minute, Verona added the lead through an own goal from Antonio Calabria. Calabria’s intention to block the ball turned out to be fatal because the ball rolled into the goal at the same time outwitting Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Milan then got a goal back in the 27th minute, also through an own goal. Verona center-back Giangiacomo Magnani sends the ball into his own net as he tries to spot Franck Kessie who tries to find a cross.
Behind 1-2 in the first half, Milan continued to try to play aggressively in the second half. Milan got some sweet opportunities, including when Theo Hernandez fired a shot from close range in the 64th minute. But that effort was countered by Verona goalkeeper Marco Silvestri.
A minute later, Milan get a penalty kick for Kessie foul. Zlatan Ibrahimovic stepped in as the lead but Ibrahimovic’s shot went high over the net.
Milan continued to press Verona and in the 75th minute, it was Ibrahimovic’s header which only hit the crossbar. A minute later, Ibrahimovic’s header was cleared by Silvestri.
In the 90th minute, Davide Calabria successfully thrilled the Verona goal with a hard shot in the penalty box. However, referee Marco Guida then stated that Ibrahimovic had committed a foul first and canceled the goal.
Ibrahimovic finally managed to score an equalizer in injury time. Brahim Diaz’s bait was met by Ibrahimovic’s header which made the ball lodged in the right corner of the goal.
Score 2-2 draw last until the end of the game.
