Inter Miami Project to Create “Mini” Barca

Inter Miami has again gained new strength in the team to navigate Major League Soccer this season. This time, The Herons, nicknamed Inter Miami, are reported to be soon strengthened by the left back of the Spanish national team and Barcelona legend, Jordi Alba.

Alba left Barcelona at the end of last season and is currently without a club. If he joins Inter Miami, Alba will reunite with his two former Barcelona teammates, namely Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.

“According to reports from the Miami Herald, left-back Jordi Alba will join Inter Miami in the coming days as he has reached an agreement with the club,” wrote Spanish publication Marca. Before bringing in Alba, Inter Miami had already moved to realize the “Barcelona Mini” project in MLS.

The club owned by David Beckham signed a football superstar and captain of the Argentine national team, Lionel Messi. After Messi, Inter Miami also successfully secured the signature of Barcelona captain last season, Sergio Busquets.

The Major League Soccer team is said to also already have plans to bring in veteran midfielder, Andres Iniesta. Quoted from Marca, Iniesta, who is 39 years old, admits that he still wants to continue playing football and that Inter Miami wants him in the squad.

Currently, the former Vissel Kobe midfielder has the opportunity to return to share the locker room with the captain of the Argentina national team. In total the two have played together 488 matches at Barcelona, also with defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets. Iniesta is currently considering the offers that came to him after deciding to leave Japan at the end of last season, including one from the Saudi Arabian League.

Not only players, Inter Miami also brought in former Barcelona coach, Gerardo Tata Martino, as the new head coach of the team. In addition, Messi, Busquets and Alba are predicted to make their debut with the team from Miami on July 21. The former Barcelona trio will defend The Herons (The Stork) during the League Cup against Cruz Azul at the DRV PNK Stadium, Miami, Florida, United States.

Apart from trying to bring in four ex-Barcelona players and a new coach in Gerardo Tata Martino, the owner of the Inter Miami club, David Beckham, has a mission of his own. Beckham hopes that he can elevate the degree of MLS to a higher level, as well as increase the number of spectators watching the match from Major League Soccer, through the transfer move he is currently making.
