Inter Milan must be satisfied with the 2-2 draw at home to Parma in the Italian League match at Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday (10/26).
Inter managed to lead 1-0 in the 23rd minute through Antonio Candreva. Candreva’s hard shot made use of a loose ball against Parma defender so that it outwitted Luigi Sepe’s movement to guard Parma’s goal.
But Parma was able to react quickly through an equalizing goal scored by Yann Karamoh in the 26th minute. Karamoh took advantage of an Inter player’s pass error and dribbled towards the Inter goal.
Despite being surrounded by many Nerazzurri players, Karamoh was able to shoot accurately from outside the penalty box that Samir Handanovic could not stop.
Parma then turned 2-1 ahead in the 30th minute through Gervinho. This goal could not be separated from the big role of Karamoh who led the rapid attack Parma. Karamoh’s movements could not be stopped by Inter’s back line and he succeeded in releasing a mature pass towards free-standing Gervinho.
In a position in front of goal, Gervinho coldly fired a shot that could not be dammed by Handanovic. A 2-1 score for Parma lasted until the end of the first half.
Left behind by one goal, Inter immediately pressed in the second half. Romelu Lukaku managed to equalize the score to 2-2 after he coldly continued Candreva’s pass.
This goal was originally not validated because Inter players are considered to be in an offside position. But after evaluating via VAR, referee Daniele Chiffi finally endorsed the goal.
Especially Lukaku, the additional goal that made him follow in the footsteps of Diego Milito. The Belgian striker has become the first Inter Milan player to score 6 goals in 9 matches since Diego Milito, a decade ago.
After a 2-2 draw, Inter were more dominant in ball possession. They even dominated possession by 62 percent. The entry of a number of substitute players, especially Matteo Politano increasingly turn on the Inter attack at the end of time.
Another substitute, Sebastian Esposito almost scored in injury time but his volley just made the ball go wide on the left side of the goal.
Esposito also had a golden opportunity through a header but the ball just bounced over the goal. Score 2-2 last until the end of the game. A draw made Inter fail to overtake Juventus from the top of the Italian league table.
Inter are still ranked second with 22 points from nine matches. Juventus are still leading with 23 points from nine matches.
