Inter Milan won 2-1 over the promoted team Venezia in the Italian League continued match at the Giuseppe Meazza, Saturday (22/1).
Early in the first half, Inter Milan immediately appeared aggressive. Attacking midfielder Nicolo Barella and veteran striker Edin Dzeko immediately launched attacks into the heart of Venice’s defense. However, some of these opportunities failed to bear fruit.
Inter, who played as the host, immediately pressed Venezia. Hakan Calhanoglu, Edin Dzeko, and Ivan Perisic have three chances, which have yet to produce goals.
Continuing to press the Inter goal even conceded by the visitors. Ethan Ampadu’s cross was headed in by Thomas Henry to rattle the Inter goal which was escorted by Samir Handanovic in the 19th minute.
Venezia’s goal made Inter even more aggressively pressuring. La Beneamata finally equalized through Nicolo Barella’s goal in the 40th minute.
The Inter midfielder broke into Venezia’s goal through a shot from close range. Barella scored just four minutes after team-mate Lautaro Martinez was unable to capitalize on his chances.
Inter are getting excited after Barella’s goal. However, the pressure from the hosts did not result in additional goals and the 1-1 score lasted until the first half was over.
The match restarted. It should be noted that Venezia is the team with the fewest number of goals in the second half of a game this season. These statistics provide some fresh air for the Nerazzurri.
Inter’s second goal was almost created in the 57th minute. Calhanoglu’s free kick created chaos in front of the Venezia goal. The ball that was cleared by Lezzerini came to Eden Dzeko, who unfortunately failed to target the goal correctly.
Inter got another golden opportunity four minutes later. Matteo Darmian received the ball near the goal and only had to shoot. But Lezzerini moved quickly to snatch the ball from Darmian’s feet.
Exactly in the 90th minute, Inter Milan managed to score the winning goal! Edin Dzeko made the ball crash into the Venezia net with the help of Denzel Dumfries. The goal made Inter winning 2-1.
There is still little time left for Venezia to equalize. Unfortunately, Paolo Zanetti’s teams were unable to do so. Inter came out as winners with a narrow score of 2-1.
Thanks to the achievement of these three points Inter temporarily away from the pursuit of closest rival AC Milan. Simone Inzaghi’s team collected 53 points from 16 wins, five draws and one defeat. Inter are five points ahead of Milan who are in second place in the standings.
Meanwhile, Venezia is stuck in 17th place with just 18 points from four wins, six draws and 12 defeats.
