Liverpool legend, John Barnes, commented on the rumors of Jack Grealish’s move to Manchester City in the 2021 summer transfer market. Barnes slightly doubted that Grealish would fit into Pep Guardiola’s Man City playing style.
As is known, rumors that Grealish will continue his career with Man City have been circulating lately. Even Grealish is said to have met a personal agreement with Man City.
Man City’s decision to bring Grealish himself is very reasonable. Because Grealish himself has managed to steal the attention of Premier League football lovers with his extraordinary performance with Aston Villa in the last four seasons.
In fact, Grealish managed to become one of the players who contributed the most to Villa in the 2020-2021 season. Yes, Grealish was able to contribute seven goals and 12 assists from 27 appearances with Villa.
The slick performance shown by Grealish made Man City fall in love. Even the management of Man City is ready to redeem Grealish from Villa with an exorbitant dowry in the 2021 summer transfer market.
Rumors of Grealish’s move to Man City also received a response from Barnes. The 57-year-old man doubts that Grealish will achieve success with Man City. Because, Barnes considered Grealish not suitable for Man City’s style of play.
“Joining Man City may not be a wise move for Jack Grealish. The player I expect is Harry Kane, but I don’t know if he wants to join Man City or Manchester United,” explained Barnes, as quoted from the Express, Saturday (17/7/2021).
“Is Man City the place for Jack Grealish? You’ve got Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden, you don’t need number ten anymore. If he went there, what kind of player would he be? He’s not in the England team because you can’t play all the number 10s.”
“With the number of attacking players Man City have – De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Foden and Raheem Sterling – whose place will he take in that team. If he doesn’t play in front of them, why did he go to Man City?” completed the former British national team personnel.
