Joel Embiid Says the Philadelphia 76ers Have Everything to Be an NBA Champion

The Philadelphia 76ers are certainly one of the hottest teams in the league right now. The team has won 20 of the last 24 games played and, with that, has already taken second place in the Eastern Conference.

Their seven straight wins are the longest running streak of the season, by the way. However, Joel Embiid said more and more that the Sixers can be NBA champions that year.

“I think this is the best team I’ve ever played for in the NBA. James Harden has been playing really well. But we also have Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, PJ Tucker.” Embiid said.

“We have pitchers and fielders, so I think our odds are good. I feel that we have everything to be champions. We are only going to take the test, however, in the playoffs.” Embiid added.

The result of this last game, by the way, shows the excellent moment of the Sixers. The opponent was not only the leader of the Western Conference, but one of only two teams with a better record than the Philadelphia team.

And Embiid dominated the match, scoring 47 points and 18 rebounds. But, despite the win, the star sees the difference in performance between the two halves as the team’s big problem.

“We showed flashes of champion basketball in games, but we couldn’t keep them for 48 minutes.” Embiid said.

“We were focused in the second half, but not so much during the first two quarters. So, our challenge is regularity.

“I want us to be able to achieve that consistency in the regular season and thus carry it into the postseason.” he added.

The Sixers as NBA champions, by extension, can add another dimension to Embiid’s image. The pivot, after all, was second in the league’s MVP voting for the past two seasons. He lost both to the Nuggets’ Serbian Nikola Jokic.

It was thus, in fact, that the confrontation between the teams entered the agenda of the league’s rivalry week. After that, he simply “discarded” the award.

“You are the ones who decide the MVP of the league, so I don’t know if I deserve to win. I got tired of campaigning for myself.” Embiid said.

“My performances speak for themselves. But my focus is solely on winning. As long as we’re winning, everything else will happen naturally. I just want the best possible chance of winning a title at the end of the day.” Embiid added.
