Joshua insists to face Wilder even if WBC champion loses against Fury

A victory of Deontay Wilder on Tyson Fury would obviously be more beneficial to promote the fight Wilder versus Anthony Joshua, a duel that the promoter Eddie Hearn has defined, Saturday night, as definitely “the biggest fight in the history of British boxing”.

But even if Fury wins a title in his fight against Wilder on December 1, at Staples Center in LA, Joshua (22-0-0, 21 KOs), said it would not prevent him from facing the current WBC heavyweight champion.

Speaking to IFL TV, the 28-year-old heavyweight champion said people want to see the fight between British champion and American champion in near future.

“Even if he loses, I’ll still face him. You know why? Because he’s a big name and people want to see this fight anyway, do you understand? So, I will always face it, yes.” Joshua said.

Joshua added that since he defeated the Russian Alexander Povetkin (34-2-0, 24 KOs), Wilder is now the rival he holds the more to face at the time of his return to the ring, April 13, at Wembley Stadium.

As a WBA, WBO, IBO, IBF heavyweight champion, the Briton has repeatedly refused to predict the winner between Fury (27-0-0, 19 KOs) and Wilder (40-0-0, 39 KOs) in upcoming December.

“Good luck to Fury, and good luck to Wilder. It’s a good fight for both. This is for both a big name to add on their card.” Joshua said.

When he was informed of Fury’s scathing criticism of him via social media about his performance against Povetkin, Joshua could not help but smile.

“Fury should be inspired. He should just focus on Wilder. That’s all he has to worry about, and no one else. And he can do it that way.” Joshua said.

“If you focus on other things, it will distract you. But maybe he has already set up his game plan, and this is his cure. So, good luck to him.” Joshua added.

This intriguing match between Wilder and Fury was officially announced last Friday night. A promotional tour in three cities (London, New York, Los Angeles) will begin on October 1, in English land.
