The Serie A giants continue to persuade Liverpool’s false nine striker, Roberto Firmino, to want to leave Anfield.
Roberto Firmino has long been rumored to be on Juventus’ radar.
In fact, the Bianconeri are said to have maneuvered to persuade the Reds to release the Brazilian striker in this summer’s transfer window.
Quoted by contentPedia from the Tuttosport report, Juventus has prepared a transfer fund of £19.5 million.
The funds were prepared by the management of the Old Lady -the nickname of Juventus – in order to attract the 30-year-old striker.
However, the amount of this transfer fee does not seem to be enough to satisfy the Reds board of directors.
“Therefore, Juventus are preparing to renew their offer value in order to be able to bring Firmino from Liverpool in the coming days,” wrote the Liverpool Echo report, Monday (25/7).
Firmino is on Juventus’ radar as a potential tandem for Dusan Vlahovic in the Bianconeri’s midfield next season.
Losing Alvaro Morata, who returned to Atletico Madrid after a two-season loan spell at the Allianz Stadium, Turin, the Bianconeri needed additional options in attack.
Apart from Vlahovic, who was only brought in in the middle of last season, Juventus coach, Massimiliano Allegri, only has one player option to fill the position of striker, Moise Kean. Both Vlahovic and Kean are known to have original positions as center forwards.
On the other hand, Firmino’s position in the Reds’ core team is not completely secure next season. Even though Liverpool have released Sadio Mane, Firmino still has to compete with Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Mohamed Salah.
Not to mention the competition presented by Darwin Nunez, who was brought in from Benfica in the transfer market this summer.
Not only that, Firmino’s contract with Liverpool also has one year remaining.
The contract situation of the former Hoffenheim striker is considered to be a breath of fresh air for the Bianconeri to be able to persuade the Reds to release Firmino this summer, rather than losing him at the end of this season on a free transfer.
Together with Salah and Mane, Firmino has become the Reds’ mainstay trio in the hunt for success in the last three seasons.
During his time at Liverpool, Firmino has collected 98 goals and 74 assists in 327 appearances since joining the Reds.
Firmino joined Liverpool in 2015 from Hoffenheim.
