Kevin de Bruyne predicted to appear fierce this season

Kevin de Bruyne predicted to appear fierce this season

Manchester City’s Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne was voted the Premier League’s best player last season.

Kevin De Bruyne has scored 15 goals and eight assists in 30 games.

In addition, De Bruyne helped smooth the steps for Manchester City to the throne of the Premier League champions last season.

The collection of 15 goals last season also became the Belgian attacking midfielder’s record for most goals in the Premier League stage since officially wearing the Citizens uniform in 2015.

Looking at the 2022/2023 season, De Bruyne is also predicted to be able to continue this slick performance trend.

Quoted by Pedia content from the official Manchester Evening News website, the 31-year-old attacking midfielder has the opportunity to start the 2022/2023 season with a slick performance like at the start of the 2017/2018 season and the 2019/2020 season.

At the start of the 2017/2018 season, De Bruyne managed to score six goals and nine assists from 21 appearances in the English Premier League.

At the end of the season, De Bruyne had 16 assists and eight goals in 37 Premier League appearances. The Citizens also broke the record as the first club to end the Premier League with 100 points and won the title.

After experiencing frequent injuries throughout the 2018/2019 season, De Bruyne returned to his best form the following season.

Before the turn of the year, the former Chelsea attacking midfielder had scored seven goals and 12 assists from 19 matches in the Premier League stage.

From 35 appearances in the Premier League arena in the 2019/2020 season, De Bruyne recorded 13 goals and 20 assists. In total, De Bruyne recorded 16 goals and 23 assists from 28 appearances in all competitions.

The 23 assists throughout the season was the highest number of assists De Bruyne has ever scored in a single season to date.

De Bruyne had difficulty finding the best performance in the 2020/2021 season due to frequent injuries.

This is inseparable from the conditions experienced by De Bruyne in the summer of 2020, when he had to play with the Belgian national team in the Euro 2020 finals even though he had not fully recovered from an ankle injury.

Now, looking at the 2022/2023 season, De Bruyne is considered to be on the right track to be able to display the best performance.

“Looking at what happened to Houston and Green Bay, there is no reason for De Bruyne to show his best form at the start of the season,” explained the Manchester Evening News.

In City’s two pre-season games, which were held in Houston and Green Bay, United States, De Bruyne did appear quite impressive.

The former Wolfsburg attacking midfielder scored two goals as City silenced America, 2-1, in Houston. Meanwhile, when delivering City to win, 1-0, over Bayern Munich, De Bruyne started the process of Erling Haaland’s goal, at Green Bay.

Although there is no guarantee about the potential for injury to De Bruyne, City coach Pep Guardiola can at least get the fittest version of De Bruyne at the start of this season.

“Similarly in the summer of 2017 and 2019, there were no major tournaments held in the summer of 2022. With sufficient rest this summer, De Bruyne can look at the 2022/2023 season with more optimism,” concluded the report.
