Kevin De Bruyne rates Manchester City season as fantastic with or without trophies

Kevin De Bruyne insists Manchester City will continue to undergo a great season even though they failed to win the Premier League this season.

Josep Guardiola’s troops were determined to become the first back-to-back league champions since Manchester United did it in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. But the effort received a big threat from Liverpool.

Liverpool are currently in first place in the league standings. They won 85 points from 34 matches.

City were in second place with 83 points. But they only played 33 times.

If City can win all the remaining matches, then they will be champions. They will beat Liverpool with a one point advantage.

City this season is aiming for a quadruple or four championship trophies at once. Currently they have won the League Cup trophy.

The target of reaching the league championship trophy is clearly not easy even though it’s still possible. But if it turns out that City failed to reach it, De Bruyne insisted it was not a problem because according to him his team was still undergoing an extraordinary season.

“If we don’t win the Premier League, people will say it’s a failure. Even if we don’t succeed, I think we will still have a great season,” he said as reported by Goal International.

“We may have to win every match to win the title from here, and we can only control what we do, but we are still there and performing very well,” De Bruyne stressed.

Previously, City striker Raheem Sterling believed the hunt for the league title this season would be very tight. The winner will only be known in the last week.

“Yes, 100 percent. With the way Liverpool played the title race, it will last until the last week,” Sterling said as quoted by the International Goal.

“I don’t see us slowing down now. Liverpool have a great army, great confidence, but we are too,” he said.
