OG Anunoby just made his debut for the New York Knicks, and it was a game to remember. The Knicks won 112-106 against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday.
Anunoby showed off his amazing defensive skills right from the start. But guess what? He also scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds.
“I thought first game, impressive, really just to be ready and to kind of figure it out like on the fly,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said.
While Anunoby had a great game, the real star of the night was Julius Randle. He led the Knicks with a whopping 39 points and nine rebounds.
Jalen Brunson also had an impressive performance with 16 points and 14 assists. On the other side, Anthony Edwards stood out for the Timberwolves, scoring 35 points.
The game started with a three-pointer from OG Anunoby, and both teams traded baskets. The Timberwolves took an early lead, but the Knicks quickly caught up.
In the second quarter, the Knicks turned the tables and overtook the Timberwolves, leading 35-34 in just three minutes.
After the halftime break, the Knicks continued their strong performance. OG Anunoby even dunked over the Timberwolves’ defense twice, extending the Knicks’ lead to 14 points.
The Timberwolves tried to make a comeback, but Julius Randle took charge in the last five minutes of the game. He scored 12 points and secured the victory for the Knicks.
Despite the Timberwolves’ efforts, the Knicks held on to win the game. It was a fantastic debut for OG Anunoby, and the whole team played exceptionally well.
“I thought our energy just kind of dipped. I thought our start to the game was good, we made some shots,” coach Chris Finch said.
“We got a few stops, but I didn’t think our energy was super high and it kind of maintained that level. They found another gear and we didn’t respond.” Finch added.
