Paris Saint-Germain striker, Kylian Mbappe, revealed the reasons for rejecting Real Madrid. The 23-year-old feels confident that he can develop if he continues his career in France
Kylian Mbappe revealed this in an open letter on Twitter. He started the letter by discussing dreams and how he tried to make them come true. In the upload on Sunday (22/5/2022), Mbappe also announced again that he chose to stay at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
“Since I was a child, rather than dreaming of life, I prefer to make it happen. It is a choice, principle and privilege. From a very young age, I tried to advance from challenge to challenge,” Mbappe wrote in Twitter. “Since I was a kid, I’ve been building a path for myself to the top, whatever it may be, but have always cared about respecting behavior, framework and whatnot. From a very young age, I have been driven by the same passion and the same ambition. Sometimes it gives rise to some misunderstandings, but I consider this honesty a courtesy. Today I would like to announce that I have chosen to extend my contract at Paris Saint-Germain.”
Previously, the news of Mbappe’s contract extension at the Parc des Princes was announced by PSG on Saturday (21/5/2022). The announcement was made before PSG host Metz in the last week of Ligue 1, the highest caste of the French League.
PSG officially announced that Mbappe was renewing his contract which expires on June 30, 2022. The new agreement means that Mbappe will remain at PSG until June 2025.
This fact is a big surprise because Mbappe has been linked with Real Madrid. In fact, the Real Madrid camp is very confident that they can land the former AS Monaco star because there has been a verbal agreement.
Apparently, this French international chose to sign a new three-year contract with Les Parisiens. Mbappe said the decision to stay at PSG could not be separated from his belief that the club can support his dreams.
“I believe that here I can continue to grow, in a club that gives itself all the means to reach the top,” said Mbappe. “I would like to thank the President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, for his trust, his ability to listen and his patience. I also think of all the Paris Saint-Germain supporters, in France and around the world, for the love that was given, especially the last few months. I am very happy to be able to continue to develop in France, the country where I was born, grew and developed. It gave me the opportunity to pursue my dream.”
Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco in July 2018. He was redeemed for a dowry of 180 million euros. During his time with PSG, Mbappe has scored 171 goals and 87 assists from a total of 217 competitive matches played. He helped lead PSG to four Ligue 1 titles, including the 2021-22 season, 3 French Cup titles, 2 French League Cup trophies and 3 French Super Cup titles.
