Liverpool beat Bournemouth 9-0, Mo Salah is in the spotlight

Mohamed Salah was in the spotlight after Liverpool beat Bournemouth 9-0 in the fourth week of the Premier League at Anfield Stadium, Saturday (27/8).

Mo Salah, the Egyptian striker’s nickname, became a conversation because he did not contribute either through goals or assists for the Reds’ goal party.

The nine Liverpool goals were scored by Roberto Firmino and Luis Diaz with two goals each, while Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Fabio Carvalho contributed one goal. Another goal through an own goal Chris Mepham.

As for assists, Firmino provided three passes, Kostas Tsimikas had two assists, while Andy Robertson had one assist.

For many, Liverpool’s victory felt strange because there were no assists and goals from Salah.

ESPN FC even made a meme of Salah with the expression ‘can’t believe it’ because he didn’t make a real contribution to the big win.

Salah himself got a golden opportunity in the 16th minute when he got a pass from Elliott. However, the moment at the goal mouth could not be used by Salah because the ball he cheated flew over the bar.

Mo Salah has even been trending on Twitter with more than 11,000 tweets, until this news was made.

In addition to discussing Salah’s contribution on the field, netizens also discussed the appearance of the former AS Roma player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Many managers in the FPL have played wrong this week. Not only that, the 30-year-old player is also widely installed as a captain in the hope of gaining a lot of points.

However, instead of earning a lot of points, Salah only contributed six points as captain in the FPL.

The game has only been running for three minutes, Liverpool immediately took the lead quickly through Luis Diaz’s goal who took advantage of Roberto Firmino’s assist.

Three minutes later Harvey Elliott doubled the hosts’ advantage with his goal in the sixth minute thanks to Firmino’s assist.

Firmino was again the actor behind Trent Alexander-Arnold’s third goal in the 28th minute which put the Reds 3-0 up in less than 30 minutes. Alexander-Arnold carefully took advantage of Firmino’s third assist.

Not wanting to continue creating assists, it was Firmino’s turn to bring Liverpool ahead 4-0 in the 31st minute.

Liverpool finally took a 5-0 lead in the first half after defender Virgil van Dijk found the net against Bournemouth in the 45th minute.

Early in the second half (46′) the Reds were 6-0 up thanks to an own goal by Chris Mepham who misjudged Alexander-Arnold’s cross.

In the 62nd minute Liverpool added to Bournemouth’s suffering with a 7-0 advantage through Firmino’s second goal. Firmino scored the goal without looking at the goal or no look goal.

The goal process started from Andy Robertson’s cross from the right side. The first cross was pushed over by goalkeeper Travers.

A wild ball fell at Firmino’s feet and was ripped off, but Travers blocked it. In the second attempt Firmino tried to score by looking to the other side, not at Bournemouth’s goal.

Fabio Carvalho who came on in the second half destroyed the Bournemouth defense with an 8-0 advantage after maximizing Tsimikas’ assist.

Through Tsimikas’s assist, Diaz also scored the second goal that put Liverpool 9-0 up in the 85th minute and closed the game.

This landslide victory was a sign of Liverpool’s revival which in the previous match was beaten by Manchester United 1-2 at Old Trafford.
