Luka Modric is starting to feel unhappy at Real Madrid. The veteran midfielder then discussed the causes of his unhappiness at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti has recently always relied on Madrid’s young midfield players. Eduardo Camavinga (20 years), Jude Bellingham (20 years), and Aurelien Tchouameni (23 years) regularly fill positions in the central line.
Meanwhile, Modric and Toni Kroos started to fall to the bench. This made the midfielder from Croatia feel unhappy.
Modric openly said that no football player is happy when he is benched or not playing. Moreover, this is the first time he has had to sit on the bench.
“No one is happy when he doesn’t play. This feeling has felt strange for me throughout my career,” said Modric, as reported by Tutto Mercato Web, Friday (8/9/2023).
The 37-year-old player said that Real Madrid is indeed inhabited by the best footballers in the world. Modric promised to compete with the young players in the Los Blancos squad.
“I know we have a lot of competition in midfield, there are a lot of top young players and that’s why they are at Real Madrid. I’m ready to give everything as much as possible,” said Modric. Nevertheless, Modric said that at this time he still accepted whatever the coaching team’s decision was. However, he will continue to work hard in training sessions to attract Ancelotti.
“However, it’s okay, the coach decided. He has his own reasons. I will obviously keep working and do it well,” said the former Tottenham Hotspur player.
