Man. Utd. players voice displeasure after day-off request denied following loss to Fulham

Day-off request denied following Manchester United’s loss to Fulham! Players voice displeasure.

After a game, the usual protocol consists of analysis and warm-down.

When requests were denied, staff members were taken aback.

After Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Fulham, some Manchester United players voiced their displeasure to the coaching staff, claiming they preferred to have Sunday off. Erik ten Hag’s team often practices post-match for warm-downs and film analysis.

Given the boring display and the fact that the request was standard procedure for the management, it surprised him. Ten Hag was reportedly uninformed when staff rejected it and reminded the players of their obligations.

The Guardian reported in November that some United players thought Ten Hag overloaded the team during the preseason, which was the reason for the team’s dismal start. They claimed that they were just as exhausted at the start of this campaign as they were at the end of the last one.

The five-game winning streak ended with Fulham’s victory, which was United’s greatest run of an inconsistent campaign. With the team in sixth place, eight points behind Aston Villa in fourth, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 27.7% buy-in, Ten Hag is coming under special scrutiny.

It’s a structural review being carried out by the Ineos owner. His appointments of Omar Bertrada as chief executive and Dan Ashworth from Newcastle to take over as head of the football department instead of John Murtough are two of his most notable actions. It’s anticipated that Murtough will get an offer for a new position and weigh his options.

Before Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth-round match at Nottingham Forest, Ten Hag asserted that Jamie Carragher had prejudices in his evaluation of his management because the pundit remarked on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football. Carragher remarked that he had never seen United’s defense start so well against Fulham.

Ten Hag stated: “First of all, certain analysts are quite subjective; some are very objective in their opinions and give really solid recommendations. Jamie Carragher has been critical from the beginning and is now trying to make his case.

Still, Ten Hag did concur with Carragher. “Yes, he did have a point—probably in the first thirty minutes. Fulham’s midfield formation caught us off guard, so we need to figure something out.

After opting for 19-year-old Omari Forson to make a start on the right wing against Fulham, the Dutchman extended his backing to Antony.
