Speculation around whether Jack Grealish would leave Aston Villa this summer is about to end as Manchester City close in on the Villa captain.
A deal for Grealish could be completed in this Thursday as City are close to completing a 100m pounds signing for the midfielder from Villa.
Both parties have an agreement for the midfielder to remain at the current champion of the Premier League until 2026 with a salary of 230,000 pounds per week.
The 25-year-old midfielder on Monday has shown up to training at Aston VIlla, but spoke with Johan Lange, the team’s sports director, about his desire to take a step forward in his career.
Grealish has admitted he would be interested in playing under City manager Pep Guardiola. The City boss described the England midfielder as incredible.
“Guardiola has seen everyting before. It is extremly good to play his team and that’s what I like, his way of seing football.” Grealish said.
The idea is to bring the midfielder to fight for another title in the Premier League, and for the unprecedented trophy of the Champions League, never won by City. Last season, Guadiola’s team hit the crossbar after losing the decision to rivals Chelsea.
Grealish has six goals and ten assists in 26 Premier League appearances this season and has also featured three times in the UEFA Nations League.
Meanwhile, Villa seeks to strengthen itself in the market to minimize the technical damage caused by the departure of Grealish. Striker Leon Bailey is close to being announced, but the club is also looking to the arrivals of Ward-Prowse and Tammy Abraham.
The Premier League will return on August 13th with the duel between the newly promoted Brentford and the London giant Arsenal, at Brentford Community Stadium.
