Manchester City’s Premier League rivals have no hope in signing Jadon Sancho

The Englishman has been been in fine form for both his Bundesliga club and the Three Lions

MANCHESTER CITY fans will be hurting seeing Jadon Sancho in such fine form for Borussia Dortmund and now England this season.

Of course, last season’s Premier League champions let the wonderkid leave for the Bundesliga in 2017 for just £8million.

But there may well be some good news for City after all.

With some of the world’s biggest clubs sure to be circling over Dortmund over the coming months to try and lure Sancho, 18, away, City have the first option to buy him back according to reports.

It is understood the attacker would be open to a return to the Etihad despite a somewhat acrimonious departure 15 months ago.

According to Bleacher Report, if any club make a successful bid to buy Sancho, Manchester City will be offered the chance to buy him at the same price.

It is surely a major boost for City fans cursing at losing one of the best young players in world football.

He was named Bundesliga Player of the Month for October with three goals and an assist in three domestic games.

And his Borussia Dortmund side sit top of the league, unbeaten after 11 games, four points clear of second-placed Borusssia Monchengladbach and seven ahead of Bayern Munich.

Of course, the cost of bringing Sancho back would no doubt be considerably higher than the £8m City received for him last year – similar to Paul Pogba’s return to Manchester United.

But the development of the Englishman during his time in Germany mean they would be signing a far better and more experienced player than the one they let go.

The major issue, though, is likely to be game time.

Fellow City academy graduate Phil Foden has stayed at the Etihad to continue his development but has not started a league or Champions League game this season – he has 66 minutes across the two competitions.

If Sancho cannot be guaranteed minutes like he is currently enjoying in the Bundesliga, it may be hard for City to convince him to return with the likes of Leroy Sane, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling already in the squad and wanting matches.
