Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ruled out a move for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero this summer.
Aguero has been linked with a host of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Barcelona as well as Chelea, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain. But United boss Solskjaer insisted they are not going to join to sign Aguero for nenxt season.
“I wouldn’t expect any player who has played for a club for 10 years to want to go to their local rivals,” Solskjaer said.
“It’s not for me. I know we’re professionals, but when you play for Man United you don’t go to Man City. We’ve had examples of that and I didn’t really agree with it. I won’t name names but you all know who I mean. Enough said.
“When I played for Man United, if a rival club tried to sign me, and I had gone – well, where’s the loyalty? Loyalty is one of the values I really, really put highly.” Solskjaer added.
Aguero has not been a starter since his return from injury, the Argentinian is said to have serious questions about his future.
Free from any contract next June, the top scorer in the history of the Sky Blues would not have remained insensitive to the advances of the new Barcelona presiden, Joan Laporta.
Solskjaer on the other hand, also provided a fitness update on the Red Devils superstar Marcus Rashford.
“If you have a goal, it can mean you have to wait until the last day – like Bruno for example. We knew it was him and it worked out well. Players can adapt quickly if they are the right fit.” Solskjaer said.
“I’m not the one in the trenches with the negotiations so I’ll leave that to the club and so far I think we’ve done a really good job. We have the goals that we really wanted and that we are building.
“There is always an opportunity even though this window will be different from the others due to the pandemic and the money the teams have lost.” Solskjaer added.
