Manchester United have held talks with the VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic in this summer transfer following his contract with Stuttgart expires in 2023.
According to reports, the 25-year-old striker is keen to have interest from United and considers a move to Old Trafford an “exciting journey”.
The Red Devils are still looking to strengthen their attacking line After failing to sign Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, who eventually joined biggest rivals Liverpool.
However, according to reports, a move to the English Premier League is now Kalajdzic’s ‘main goal’ with West Ham United, Brighton and Southampton also interested in his services.
Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat has insisted the club will not want to lose the player for free next summer when his contract expires.
“We’re still hoping he will stay. Saaa once said he won’t leave us on a free due to the support he got from us. That means if there’s no movement in the summer, we have legitimate hope that he’ll extend.” Mislintat said.
Kalajdzic playing for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. He scored 17 goals in the 2020/21 season in 36 games in all competitions.
However, due to a shoulder injury, Kalajdzic missed the majority of the 2021/22 season, scoring just six goals in 15 games in all competitions.
“There will be no rush job. It’s about finding what’s best for me.” Kalajdzic said.
“Nothing is out of the question, I’m open to everything. I don’t know where the journey is going. There are many things going on in the background.” he added.
In the Austrian national team shirt, Kalajdzic has 4 goals, including a goal against Italy at EURO 2021.
Kalajdzic would make an interesting super-sub. His physical dominance may prove successful in tight games where United need a goal.
