Manchester United vs Manchester City Final Result: Red Devils Win 2-1 in the Middle of Controversy

The final result of Manchester United vs Manchester City was marked with a score of 2-1 for the victory of the Red Devils, Saturday (14/1/2023) at Old Trafford.

Manchester United actually left behind from Manchester City. Manchester City took the lead first through Jack Grealish (60′). However, Manchester United managed to turn things around in the last 15 minutes.

It was goals from Bruno Fernandes (78′) and Marcus Rashford (82′) that made Man United turn 2-1 ahead. However, there was great controversy in Bruno Fernandes’ goal in the 78th minute.

Before the ball reached Bruno’s feet, the ball was first received by Marcus Rashford. Well, Rashford himself was already in an offside position. However, the referee did not consider there was an offside in the process of the goal.

As a result, the goal remained valid and immediately received protests from the Man City players.

Manchester United and Manchester City played very carefully at the start of this first half. Manchester City chose to play the ball more in their own playing area. This was done while they were looking for gaps in the Red Devils’ defense area.

The dominance of Man City’s possession of the ball was felt, with the percentage until the 14th minute was 36 percent for Man United and 64 percent for City.

Christian Eriksen seems to be given the task of keeping Rodri tight in midfield. Wherever Rodri went Eriksen was always there to interrupt. This tactic choice was effective enough to frustrate The Citizens.

Until the 25th minute, the score was still as strong as 0-0.

The match was briefly stopped in the 30th minute to provide treatment to Tyrel Malacia who fell and hit his head. Luckily the Dutch player was not seriously injured.

In the 33rd minute, Rashford had a golden opportunity. He managed to get past the City goalkeeper, Ederson Moraes, who came out to cut the through ball. Unfortunately, he took the ball to a less profitable angle.

He didn’t have the right angle to shoot and this opportunity could not result in a goal for the Red Devils.

Marcus Rashford had another chance in the 36th minute. He received a breakthrough bait from Christian Eriksen. Rashford defeats Kyle Walker in a sprint duel.

However, the ball he dribbled rolled too fast, making it easier for Ederson to block this opportunity.

Man United was alarmed in the 42nd minute when Marcus Rashford was seen holding the inner thigh area. After a short period of treatment, the British player returned to continue the game.

But no goals were created from both teams until the first half ended.

The 0-0 score was the result of the first round of Manchester United vs Manchester City.

In the second half, Man City again took the initiative to attack. They patiently look for gaps in the opponent’s defense. The difference is, City is more daring to do take-ons in the opponent’s defense area.

Joao Cancelo and Riyad Mahrez made The Citizens different in the second half.

In the 60th minute, City managed to break the deadlock. Jack Grealish successfully scored for The Citizens after taking advantage of a pass from Kevin De Bruyne. Grealish, who was not guarded properly, immediately scored the ball easily. The score was 0-1 in favor of City.

Man United’s efforts to equalize success in the 78th minute.

Bruno Fernandes scored from a pass from Marcus Rashford. But actually there is a big controversy behind this goal. Rashford was actually in an offside position when he received a pass from Casemiro.

However, the linesman did not raise the flag, and neither did the VAR, which did not appear to be used.

Position to be 1-1.

Only 4 minutes later, Man United turned ahead. Marcus Rashford scored from a great effort from Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho, who moved in from the left, sent a pass into the middle and was met by Rashford.
