Marquez is Slowly But Surely

Marc Marquez won the 2024 Australian MotoGP by defeating Jorge Martin at Phillip Island, Sunday (20/10). Having made a blunder at the start, Marquez managed to win.

Martin managed to start the race perfectly. The Pramac Racing racer was ahead of Marco Bezzecchi and Bagnaia. Marquez had problems with the start. Starting the race from second position, Marquez’s tires slipped and The Baby Alien dropped to a position in the top 10.

However, Marquez managed to recover and was in seventh position after the first lap. Bezzecchi, who had to undergo a lop lap penalty due to a mistake in the Sprint Race, then had an accident at turn four on lap five. This condition made Bagnaia move up to second place.

However, Martin immediately overtook him. Marquez also then successfully rose to second place. In just an instant, Bagnaia was in front and then dropped to third place.

Entering the 17th lap, Bagnaia started to lag behind Marquez by more than 1 second. Meanwhile, The Baby Alien successfully suppressed Martin by only 0.2 seconds. Two laps later, Martin and Marquez started to move away from Bagnaia by more than 2 seconds.

With six laps remaining of the 27 laps of the 2024 Australian MotoGP race, Bagnaia had to forget about winning. The Ducati racer was already 3.4 seconds behind Marquez. The fight for victory now belongs to Martin vs Marquez.

On Lap 24, Marquez successfully overtook Martin. However, Martin managed to pass Marquez at the first corner of the 25th lap. Several corners later, Marquez took over the leading position again.
