Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez underwent surgery for the third time. The operation took place at the Hospital Ruber Internacional in Madrid and lasted eight hours.
“When I come back I have to be ready to go 100%, my body has to be ready to take the same risks because it is my DNA and it is what led me to achieve what I have achieved and to make the mistakes I have made, but in the end the two things compensate.” Marquez said.
The 2020 riders’ World Championship is the 16th title for Suzuki and the 2nd for Joan Mir, after his crown in the Moto3 class in 2017. And Marquez admitted he’s very impressed with his compatriot this year.
“He was the most regular and deservedly became world champion because in this World Championship it seemed that consistency was the most important thing; other world, he ended up winning the championship.” Marquez said.
“I think that in his second year of MotoGP it is of enormous value to become already champion and, among the theoretical favorites that there were, or those who seemed more suitable for the title, he without so much noise he ended up winning this World Cup.
“In the future he will have to fight again for the World Championship and he will do it because he has talent, he has shown it and logically I will try to get him out of that title again, we’ll see if I can.” Marquez added.
Marquez’s season begun in dramatic fashion at the season-opening Spanish Grand Prix in July. He is back training after his crash at the season opener.
“This year he taught me many things. The first, that the attempt to return after the injury was hasty.” Marquez said.
“I broke the plaque in the house, opening a sliding door to go out into the garden, but the plaque didn’t break at that moment, but it was the consequence of all the stress that he suffered in Jerez. Trying to return to Jerez was a mistake.” he added.
