Francesco Bagnaia is confident that he can beat Jorge Martin, who has the first chance to become world champion in 2024 at the Malaysia MotoGP, Sunday (3/11).
The first end game for the 2024 MotoGP world title between Martin vs Bagnaia will occur in the 2024 Malaysia MotoGP race at the Sepang Circuit this weekend.
With a 17 point advantage over Bagnaia, Martin must beat Pecco by 21 points throughout the sprint race and the 2024 Malaysia MotoGP Grand Prix this weekend. In this way, it is no longer possible for Bagnaia to catch up with Martin’s 38 point lead after the Malaysia MotoGP.
Bagnaia believes the 2024 MotoGP world title will be decided in Valencia, which is the final series of the season. Moreover, the Ducati racer considers the Sepang Circuit to suit his racing style.
Previously, Bagnaia had claimed that Martin had an advantage over him in the Australian MotoGP, but in Thailand and Malaysia, Pecco admitted that he was superior to the Pramac racer.
“In Australia I say that because it is a circuit where Martin is always faster than me. In Thailand, Martin did a very good job, because he is very strong. We are quite similar in terms of speed.”
“And in the Malaysia MotoGP, I think it’s a circuit where I’m always very strong. There are a lot of right corners, that’s where I can make a little difference in braking and in fast corners,” said Bagnaia.
Different from the previous two seasons when he became MotoGP world champion, this is the first time that Bagnaia has left behind in the standings when the fight for the world title has two races remaining. However, Bagnaia did not panic under pressure.
“Honestly, I never give up, I always believe in what I can achieve with the team. I will never give up as long as I have the chance and that’s what I will do,” said Bagnaia.
Apart from that, Marc Marquez no longer has the opportunity to become MotoGP world champion in 2024. Because of this, he received questions about the possibility of releasing Jorge Martin vs Bagnaia for a direct duel without interference from him.
Regarding this, Marc Marquez did not want to make a promise that he would let go and let Bagnaia and Jorge Martin duel directly.
