Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson took a social media to slam “Hulu” as one of the main streaming platforms in the world.
Tyson has claimed that the platform stole his life story and produced the period of slavery in the United States to broadcast the streaming channel.
“Don’t let Hulu fool you. I don’t support their story about my life. It’s not 1822, it’s 2022. They stole my life story and didn’t pay me. To the Hulu executives, I’m just a black man they can sell at auction block.” Tyson wrote on Instagram.
“Hulu stole my story. They are Goliath, while I am David. Heads will roll. It’s very greedy to steal life rights from celebrities.
“Someone should get fired from Hulu. Producers were lying to my friends saying I supported the unauthorized series about my life,” Tyson added.
In response to Tyson’s criticisms of the project, Steven Rogers, an executive producer on Mike, explained that his team was unable to discuss with Tyson on the project because his life rights were already taken during the show’s virtual Television Critics Association panel on Thursday.
“That was never on the table. I would hope that if he watches it that he would change his opinion. For me, as a writer, as a storyteller, I don’t really like to be reliant on just one source.” Rogers said.
“I really like to do the research and get all these different opinions and then put a story around all of that. I don’t like to be beholden to just one person.” he added.
The “Iron Mike” is not the first top people to rail against Hulu for creating content about their life without their involvement.
Sources close to Pamela Anderson also slammed the Emmy-nominated Hulu series Pam & Tommy, which marked the theft of Anderson’s sex tape with then-husband Tommy Lee.
