Mourinho and Woodward at Boiling Point Over Man United Transfers

Manchester United’s summer tour session was hotter this time. Because the relationship of Jose Mourinho and Red Devils CEO Ed Woodward is not getting along.

The issue of heating up the relationship of both important figures of Man United was revealed after the 1-4 defeat of Liverpool in the International Champions Cup 2018. It was the first defeat of Man United in preseason this time, but their performance is also not satisfactory.

Previously, Manchester United have only grab two draws and one victory. One victory was also achieved on penalties over AC Milan and draw against San Jose Earthquakes and Club America.

Man United still have two pre-season games left against Real Madrid on July 31 and Bayern Munich on 5 August. Mourinho calls the absence of key players such as Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, and Marouane Fellaini cause not maximum appearance.

The players are still holiday, but on the one hand Mourinho seemed to point Woodward’s nose for his performance is not optimal in the transfer market this summer. Man United has already spent 70 million pounds sterling only for three players. But, of the three players who imported, maybe just Fred who spelled out to be okay for quality while the rest are young players such as Diogo Dalot of Porto and goalkeeper Lee Grant from Stoke City.

Although strongly rumored to be bringing Harry Maguire (Leicester City), Yerry Mina (Barcelona), Gareth Bale (Real Madrid), Ivan Perisic (Inter Milan), Ante Rebic (Eintracht Frankfurt), and Willian (Chelsea), but until now there is no clarity at all from Man United.

This then makes Mourinho annoyed with Woodward is not considered to work. The British media also began to heat up the current discontent related to the players coveted.

For example, Bale is a player targeting by Woodward but not Mourinho. In terms of business, the arrival of Bale would certainly add to their money or funds. Not just a matter of status as a star of Wales, but Bale also sponsored by Adidas which is a kit sponsor for Man United.

Meanwhile, Mourinho wants Perisic to sharpen his team’s offensive line. But, Woodward felt the price of 80 million pounds was too overpriced. This related to Maguire and Mina too, Mourinho disagreed with Woodward.

Rumors are circulating also called Woodward no longer want to spend money because the achievement of Mourinho in two seasons is considered unsatisfactory. Winning the English Premier League and Europe League titles in the inaugural season, Mourinho have no any titles last season despite spending more than 100 million pounds.

That’s what makes Woodward make safe play in this transfer market by first selling unused players before buying a new one, while waiting for team performance throughout the 2018/19 season.

However, with the transfer market closed about two weeks away, Man United will inevitably have to spend as soon as possible if do not want the players taken by another club. If not, it could be Mourinho and Woodward will only heat up their relationship.
