The future of Bayern Munich defender Niklas Suele has been the most concerned topic at Bundesliga during the past few months.
According to Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn, he confirmed that the German international will leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June.
“The negotiation process with Niklas has lasted since very long time. We made an offer to Niklas but he did not accept it and wants to leave the club at the end of the season.” Kahn said.
“Bayern Munich needs to consider many factors in the contract negotiation process, depending on the financial situation of the club. Not every negotiation results in consensus.” The former Bayer goalkeeper Kahn added.
According to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich has offered Suele a 10 million euros per season, a figure that is not enough to satisfy this star. However, he was not satisfied because many times he became the name that had to stand up to criticism from the public without receiving any support from the team.
Suele joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2017 from Hoffenheim and is regularly the first choice at center back. He won four Bundesliga titles, two German Cup titles and the 2020 Champions League with Bayern, though he missed much of the triple-winning season with a cruciate ligament injury.
According to reports, the 26-year-old defender is the target of a dispute between Chelsea and Barcelona. He has been pursued by these two giants, especially The Blues, since he was a young talent.
Bayern is looking for alternatives, though Kahn also referred to squad members Lucas Hernandez or Benjamin Pavard, who can play in the center.
“There are many possibilities, but of course Bayern must consider players who someone leaves us,” Kahn said.
