Lando Norris, McLaren Formula 1 driver, is focused on the races rather than the title. His outstanding performance at Zandvoort shows a great potential to dethrone current world champion.
The British driver labelled it “stupid” to shift focus to the championship rather than races. He struggled to keep his pole position in the race. However, he managed to regain his lost position from Max Verstappen.
Norris regained his position and kept a comfortable margin from the tailing Red Bull until he won the crown. He also took additional points for the fastest lap and marked a new time for the biggest gap at winning.
Norris shuns any comments about his chances of winning the title despite a brilliant comeback from summer break. Additional upgrades also provided great results for the team.
“I’ve been fighting for the championship since the first race of the year. There’s no sudden decision now,” he said.
“I need to do better. I’ve been working hard the whole year and I’m still 70 points behind Max. So it’s pretty stupid to think of anything at the minute.
“I just take one race at a time and just keep doing what I’m doing now because there’s no point in thinking ahead and thinking of the rest.
“I don’t care about it at the minute. I’m just focused on one race at a time. So it’s not a question that I need to get asked every single weekend.”

Toto Wolff, Mercedes Formula 1 boss, conceded to the extraordinary form of the Woking-based squad. He claims that its driver “annihilated” the complete driver lineup.
However, McLaren requires to set the consistency in play for great chances at winning. Norris lags 70 points behind Max Verstappen who currently leads the championship.
Norris declined to comment on whether he would be able to win back-to-back in the Italian Grand Prix.
“Anyone could be on top,” he insisted. “Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull, us. Ferrari was quite quick. We probably didn’t expect them to be as good as they were. Maybe Red Bull struggled a bit more.
“I think that was probably more the factor that the Red Bull struggled a bit more than we were expecting. We just keep our heads down.
“There’s no point thinking how we’re going to do next weekend. We’ll just get there and work hard and wait till we get there. There’s no point thinking ahead.”
