Recently, there were rumours that the Toronto Raptors superstar OG Anunoby might be traded to another team, but those rumours turned out to be false.
However, Anunoby is ready for a new phase in his career. He’s already a great scorer, but now he wants to be even more involved in the team’s offense.
Anunoby decided to switch representation agencies because he wanted to make this career change happen.
He had meetings with potential agents and told them that he wants to have the ball in his hands more often and create more scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates.
However, Anunoby is not unhappy with the Raptors, he just wants a change to showcase his skills before becoming a free agent.
“OG has switched representation agencies amid questions about its role on the team. He is not dissatisfied, but wants change.” Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer said.
“In meetings with potential agents, for example, he said he would like to play more with the ball in his hands. He will then look for more opportunities as a creator before becoming a free agent.” he added.
Rumours and Trade Talks
Anunoby has been a hot topic in the NBA trade market lately. Many teams, like the Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, and Golden State Warriors, have shown interest in acquiring him.
However, the Raptors have been reluctant to trade him. In fact, they even turned down an offer of three first-round draft picks for him. It seems like the team values his defensive skills and doesn’t want to let him go.
Even though Anunoby hasn’t asked to be traded, some experts believe that could change soon.
The Raptors recently went through a coaching change and their point guard, Fred VanVleet, left the team. These changes could lead to a shift in the team’s dynamics, and if Anunoby doesn’t see an increase in his role and opportunities on offense, he might consider requesting a trade.
