Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to Manchester United defeat to West Ham United in the matchday 6 of the Premier League at London Stadium on Sunday night.
United suffered a 2-0 loss to the hosts. A goal each from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aaron Cresswell in either half of the match was enough to bring the Hammers into a comfortable win.
Speaking after the defeat, Solskjaer insisted they are staying positive despite their poor away form. However, the team selection for the game has left many fans confused.
“It was a disappointing day overall. We’ve got to dust ourselves down and work through this. The boys are disappointed and vey down at the moment but knowing them they will bounce back.” Solskjaer said.
“We created chances that we should have taken. It was a pretty even game but we did not grasp the key moments.” Solskjaer added.
After the Red Devils’ poor start this season, some fans have turned against the Norwegian manager. They also have called for Solskjaer’s head after seeing the squad to face West Ham.
“As with many even Premier League games it will be decided by quality at one end and today it was them with two very good goals.” Solskjaer said.
“We could have done better defending them and we should have scored ourselves. You’ve got to up the level and the tempo and create more runs forward.
“I thought we pushed them back but just didn’t have that little edge and little bit extra and the quality that we should have had.” he added.
Former United’s manager, Jose Mourinho, is claimed the team had not improved since his departure in last December.
“We were bad last season but I don’t see any improvements this season, even with three new players. I’m not surprised by the result and I don’t think Ole can take any positives from the game.” Mourinho said.
United now are sitting seventh position on the standings with eight points. They are seven points adrift of Premier League leaders Liverpool. Solskjaer’s side have won just two of their opening six Premier League games of the campaign.
