Chelsea successfully beat Brighton & Hove Albion with a score of 3-2 in Week 14 of the 2023-2024 Premier League, on Sunday (3/12/2023). Playing at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Enzo Fernandez was perhaps the player who shone the most in the victory that the team nicknamed The Blues had just achieved.
How could it not be, Enzo successfully contributed two goals in the 3-2 win over Brighton. Apart from Enzo, Levi Colwill also helped Chelsea win with his goal.
Thanks to the victory over Brighton, Chelsea is now in 10th place with a collection of 19 points. Meanwhile, Brighton is stuck in eighth position with 22 points.
Chelsea is trying to get back into the win column after suffering one defeat and one draw in the last two matches. The team nicknamed The Blues immediately attacked from the start of the first half.
The efforts of Mauricio Pochettino’s men reap success in the 17th minute. Enzo Fernandez opened the scoring for Chelsea to make it 1-0 after using a pass from Benoit Badiashile.
Not long after that, the second goal for the Blues was immediately obtained and made the score 2-0. This time it was Levi Colwill’s turn (21′) to break through the Brighton goal guarded by Jason Steele.
Continuing to be attacked, Brighton tried to find a gap to launch an attack on the home team. They also succeeded in reducing the deficit to 1-2 through a goal scored by Facundo Buonanotte (43′).
Towards the end of the first half, Conor Gallagher was given a red card by the referee and Chelsea had to play with ten players in the second half. The first half ended with the score 2-1 for the home team.
Having a superior number of players, Brighton played more aggressively at the start of the second half. They continued to try to score goals and reduce the gap with their superior number of players.
Brighton’s efforts did not produce any results until 15 minutes into the second half. In fact, Chelsea got the opportunity to widen their lead after being awarded a penalty by the referee.
Enzo (65′) who was appointed as executor was able to complete his duties well. Chelsea widened their lead to 3-1.
In the remaining time of the match, Brighton tried to catch up with the two goals down. Roberto de Zerbi’s squad was finally able to reduce the gap to 2-3 through a goal scored by Joao Pedro (90+2′) in added time in the second half.
Until the referee blew the long whistle, no additional goals were scored. Chelsea successfully won three points with a 3-2 win over Brighton.
