Premier League Result: Liverpool held by Brighton 2-2

Liverpool were held to a draw by Brighton & Hove Albion in the 10th week of the Premier League which took place at Anfield Stadium, Saturday (30/10).

Had been pounded in the early minutes by the visitors through Solly March in the third minute, Liverpool immediately paid cash with an opportunity that led to a goal.

Jordan Henderson ran from the middle and fired accurately to meet Mohamed Salah’s proffered ball from the right. A little inside the penalty box, Henderson kicked the ball that Robert Sanchez could not anticipate.

Brighton, who were heavily attacked, tried to take advantage of the counter-attack. As did Yves Bissouma in the 15th minute. The ball kicked by Bissouma could still be parried by Alisson Becker and then hit the post.

A minute later Roberto Firmino had a chance to score Liverpool’s second goal. Already facing one on one with Sanchez, the Brazilian striker failed to direct the ball into Brighton’s goal.

Liverpool just scored the second goal in the 24th minute. Sadio Mane nets after receiving a pass from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

If not disallowed by VAR, Liverpool won 3-0 over Brighton through Mane’s goal in the 34th minute. Mane managed to block Sanchez’s shot which was standing right in front of goal, but the ball touched Mane’s hand first before sliding into the goal.

Brighton narrowed the gap while opening hope through Enock Mwepu’s long-range goal that Alisson couldn’t reach in the 41st minute.

48th minute Salah made the ball nest in the Brighton goal, but the assistant referee raised the offside flag.

Brighton also did not want to miss the start with an Adam Lallana opportunity which was secured by Alisson.

Liverpool looked comfortable with a 2-1 advantage and had the ball dominant. Brighton then equalized in the 65th minute. Leandro Trossard released the ball from inside the penalty box after receiving feedback from Adam Lallana.

The Reds are actually under threat. Trossard broke into Alisson’s goal again in the 76th minute. This time the goals did not count, as Trossard was offside first.

Liverpool’s attacks in the rest of the game are often stuck in the Seagulls defense area. The score 2-2 became the final result of Liverpool vs Brighton in the 10th week.

In the next Premier League match, Brighton will host Newcastle United at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, November 6, 2021, next week, while Liverpool will host West Ham United a day later.

Before that, on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, Liverpool will first appear in the Champions League to host Atletico Madrid at Anfield.
