Premier League Results: 10 Reds Players Destroy Their Guest 3-1

Following are the results of the Liverpool vs Bournemouth match in the second week of the 2023-2024 Premier League, Saturday (19/8/2023). The Reds managed to win with a score of 3-1 despite playing with 10 men since the 58th minute.

Antoine Semenyo (3′) gave Bournemouth the lead. However, the hosts were able to score three goals through Luis Diaz (27′), Mohamed Salah (36′) and Diogo Jota (62′), to reap their first three points in the 2023-2024 Premier League.

Bournemouth surprised Liverpool when the match had only been running for one minute. Jaidon Anthony broke into Liverpool’s goal after taking advantage of a cross bait. But the goal was disallowed for offside.

Bournemouth actually scored shortly thereafter. The visitors scored a goal through Antoine Semenyo in the third minute after taking advantage of a mistake in Liverpool’s defense.

Trent Alexander-Arnold lost the ball in front of the Liverpool penalty box and was immediately used by Bournemouth. Dominic Solanke’s shot was still blocked by Liverpool players. Then Semenyo maximized the gag ball.

Liverpool almost scored a goal back through a corner kick scheme. Andy Robertson’s corner was met by Virgil van Dijk with a header, but the ball hit the crossbar.

Alexander-Arnold penetrated from the right and fired a shot towards goal. Neto can still brush off the ball.

After falling behind, Liverpool blindly attacked the Bournemouth defense. The effort finally paid off in the 27th minute. Luis Diaz’s acrobatic right-foot shot was unable to be driven out by Neto, the score changed to a 1-1 draw.

The wind turned to the host camp. In the 35th minute, the referee awarded Liverpool with a penalty after Dominik Szoboszlai was brought down by Joe Rothwell in the forbidden box.

Mohamed Salah was appointed to take the penalty. Neto could read his execution, but the player from Egypt immediately grabbed the rebound. No additional goals were created until the first half was over. Liverpool were narrowly winning 2-1 in the first half over their guests.

Entering the 57th minute, Liverpool had to swallow a bitter pill. Alexis Mac Allister was rewarded with a direct red card after committing a horror violation.

Losing the number of players did not make Liverpool relax their attacks. In fact, they managed to add to the advantage through Diogo Jota’s flick which took advantage of the ball rebounding in the 62nd minute.

Bournemouth got a golden opportunity to reduce the position in the final minutes. However, David Brooks and Hamed Traore’s shots were cleared by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

No additional goals were created until the match ended. Liverpool also managed to secure three points at Anfield.

This is Liverpool’s first win in the 2023/2024 Premier League. After last week’s draw against Chelsea, the Reds have now collected four points from two matches.
