Chelsea beat West Ham United 1-0 in the Premier League match at the London Stadium, Sunday (25/4).
West Ham vs Chelsea match went tough in the first half. As a result, not many opportunities were created in the first 10 minutes of the match.
Chelsea just got a chance in the 15th minute. Christian Pulisic kicks off from inside the penalty box which Lukasz Fabianski can still secure.
Seven minutes later, Chelsea returned to spread threats. This time, Timo Werner’s effort to score a goal was blocked by The Hammers’ players.
West Ham is not standing still. One opportunity was found by Jesse Lingard who fired a left-footed shot but the Chelsea defender was able to deny.
The goal in this match was only created in the 43rd minute. Chelsea managed to take the lead first thanks to Werner’s flick from close range utilizing Ben Chilwell’s low pass which Fabianski could not anticipate. 1-0 score lasted until the first half ended.
Chelsea have the opportunity to increase the advantage in the 55th minute. Fabianski clears a Mason Mount shot from outside the area but the ball throws up at Werner.
Unfortunately, Werner, who was in an unprotected position, failed to score. Werner’s cheating from close range even sideways on the left side of Fabianski’s goal.
West Ham responded to Chelsea’s pressure just a minute later. Pablo Fornals fired a speculative shot from the penalty box which was still right by Edouard Mendy.
In the 60th minute, Lingard gets his first chance to score. Lingard kicks off from outside the penalty box which is thin over the Chelsea crossbar.
Three minutes later, Chelsea pressed back. Opportunities were obtained by Chelsea through Mason Mount’s long-range shot which Fabianski thwarted.
West Ham, who kept trying to equalize, had to play with 10 men in the 81st minute. The referee sent off Fabian Balbuena for stepping on Ben Chilwell’s calf after throwing the ball from the West Ham defense.
Playing with 10 people, West Ham was never able to score against Chelsea. As a result, the score 1-0 for Chelsea’s victory lasted until the second half ended.
This victory keeps Chelsea in fourth place with 58 points. Meanwhile, West Ham’s position in fifth place with 55 points has not changed.
