Premier League Results: Everton Lose to Leeds

Everton lost 0-1 to Leeds United in the 10th Premier League match at the Goodison Park Stadium, Sunday (29/11). Raphinha’s goal gave Leeds the three points.

James Rodriguez gave Everton a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute with a neat goal. However, the goal was canceled because Rodriguez was first in an offside position based on VAR assessment.

Defender Michael Keane almost gave the Toffees the lead in the 26th minute. It’s just that, Keane’s header was wide.

Defender Robin Koch brought down striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the penalty area in the 41st minute. Referee Chris Kavanagh also checked VAR to confirm the violation. For Leeds, the incident did not result in a penalty for Everton.

Jack Harrison could not maximize the chances of a goal in the final minutes of the first half. Harrison’s header in the 45th minute after using Stuart Dallas’s cross just hit the bar.

Leeds launched consecutive attacks, this time Patrick Bamford’s turn, but his shot was slightly off the side of the Everton goal.

In the 64th minute Raphinha threw away a goal for Leeds. Chaos occurred in the Everton penalty box when Raphinha held the ball.

However, the Brazilian player chose to open a shot on goal rather than pass the ball to his partner. As a result, Raphinha’s shot diverted to the right of Pickford’s goal.

Bamford had a chance to break into Pickford’s goal in the 66th minute. However, the referee disallowed the goal because Alioski was in an offside position before releasing the bait which later resulted in a goal for Bamford.

Everton counterattacked in the 75th minute. Midfielder Allan became the motor of the attack. It’s just that, instead of creating a better goal opportunity, Allan chose to shoot a shot that was only wide on the left side of Ilan Meslier’s goal.

Raphinha broke the deadlock in the match in the 79th minute after his goal put the visitors 1-0 up after using Jack Harrison’s pass. After receiving Harrison’s pass, Raphinha wanted to pass the ball to his partner, but he chose to shoot. The decision was right, the ball rolled to the left of the goal and became a goal.

Ezgjan Alioski was unable to maximize the visitors’ golden opportunities. Even though he only faced one on one with goalkeeper Pickford, Alioski’s shot in the 88th minute went wide on the left side of the goal.

Pickford made a brilliant save in the minutes of injury time after clearing Helder Costa’s chance in the 90 + 3 minute. Leeds United narrowly won 1-0 over Everton.
