Premier League Results: Liverpool Beat Southampton

Liverpool won 4-0 over Southampton in the Premier League match which was held at Anfield, Saturday (27/11).

The Reds appeared kicked off from the start of the game. Liverpool managed to take the lead quickly through Diogo Jota’s goal in the second minute.

The Reds actually managed to increase their advantage in the 13th minute through Sadio Mane’s header. However, Sadio Mane’s goal was disallowed by the referee because it was considered offside after checking via VAR (Video Assistant Referee).

Winning one goal did not make Liverpool relax the attack. In the 32nd minute, Diogo Jota managed to increase Liverpool’s advantage to 2-0 after continuing Mohamed Salah’s pass.

Liverpool continued to attack Southampton and managed to increase the advantage to 3-0 through Thiago Alcantara’s hard kick in the 37th minute.

Liverpool almost added to the advantage in the 45th minute through a fast counter-attack built by Mohamed Salah. Unfortunately, Salah’s breakthrough pass could not be reached by Jota, who arrived late in front of the Southampton goal.

The Reds finally closed the first half match with a 3-0 advantage.

Furthermore, in the second half Liverpool did not reduce the intensity of the attack. In the 52nd minute, Liverpool managed to increase their advantage to 4-0 through Virgil Van Dijk’s goal after continuing from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner.

No additional goals were scored in this match. Liverpool secured a 4-0 win over Southampton.

Behind the landslide victory over Southampton, Liverpool coach, Juergen Klopp, saw that there were still shortcomings in his squad.

As much of a perfectionist as Jurgen Klopp is, he highlights the back line that is getting some pressure from Southampton.

Jurgen Klopp feels there is a lot of room for improvement from a defensive perspective.

This can be seen from the saves recorded by Alisson Becker more than McCarthy with three to two saves.

The visitors had seven chances throughout the match with three shots that led to Alisson Becker’s goal.

“I’m not happy with the chances the opponent got in this match, to be honest,” Klopp said, quoted by Metro.

“I don’t have a problem with Ali making saves in football games, but these saves are too spectacular so we have to really work on them.”

“We have to be as stable, as serious and as ruthless in defense as possible.”

“It won’t be like this forever we can score two goals per game, but it’s happened so far and it’s good.”

“If we win the game 1-0 then I’m also happy,” said the German tactician continued.
