Premier League Results: Manchester City beats Burnley 5-0

Manchester City wrapped up a five-goal victory without reply over Burnley in Week 30 of the English Premier League at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday (6/23).

After the referee started the match, Man City was quite comfortable controlling the match. Burnley tried to use every opportunity to control the ball well and immediately tried to counterattack.

As usual, Man City started with the dominance of the ball. The first 10 minutes were completely dominated by Pep Guardiola’s team, who forced Burnley to play defensively.

The pattern of this game lasted for the next 10 minutes, but Burnley did not remain defensive. They showed signs of being able to release the threat from Man City’s high pressure.

Controlling the match does not necessarily make Man City can easily score goals. The new score changes in the 22nd minute. Starting from a corner kick, David Silva’s pass was completed well by Phil Foden from outside the penalty box. His left foot kick makes the ball nest in the lower left corner of Burnley’s goal.

A tactical and effective counter-attack started Man City’s second goal. When a lot of Burnley players are in the Man City game area, releasing the hull passes to the right side. Riyad Mahrez welcomed the bait and ran towards the penalty box. Shadowed by Charlie Taylor and Ben Mee, Mahrez fiddled with the ball for a moment before kicking it hard into Burnley’s goal.

At the end of the first half, Man City received a penalty. Based on VAR, the duel between Sergio Aguero and Ben Mee makes the referee point to the white point. Mahrez successfully carried out the task. The ball released to the lower right corner cannot be anticipated by Nick Pope.

The game has just begun again, Man City have added to their advantage. Duo Silva made a neat combination that made Burnley difficult to defend.

Receiving a pass from Foden, Bernardo was right onside and channeled the ball for David Silva. Free standing, Silva just kicked hard from close range. Goal! Man City 4-0 Burnley in the 51st minute.

Foden scored the second goal in this match in the 63rd minute. Gabriel Jesus action is not stingy to give the bait led to the increasing excellence of The Citizens to 5-0.

A five-goal victory without reply persists until the referee finishes the match. Three additional points from this match cut Man City’s second-placed distance from leaders Liverpool to 20 points. Burnley’s position has not changed, they are still ranked 11th in the standings.
